Standard Aquariums

A standard aquarium is the most common and versatile type of tank used for both freshwater and saltwater setups. Typically rectangular in shape, these aquariums come in a wide range of sizes to suit various spaces, from compact tanks for beginners to large, professional-grade setups. They are designed with functionality and ease of maintenance in mind, making them ideal for hobbyists at all levels.

Standard aquariums usually feature clear glass for unobstructed viewing, though they can also be customized with various silicone options for a sleek look. They are often sold as basic tanks without built-in filtration or heating systems, allowing you to personalize the setup based on the specific needs of your aquatic species. These aquariums are built to be durable and reliable, often crafted with float glass and sealed with high-quality silicone to ensure a secure and leak-proof structure. Standard aquariums can easily accommodate a variety of environments, including freshwater fish, saltwater species, or even planted aquariums, and can be enhanced with additional features such as drilled holes for filtration systems, overflows, or LED lighting.

Whether you’re just starting out in the hobby or looking to upgrade your current setup, standard aquariums provide a solid foundation for creating a thriving aquatic ecosystem.

Bookshelf Aquariums

A bookshelf aquarium is a stylish and space-efficient type of aquarium designed to seamlessly blend into your home or office environment, resembling a piece of furniture more than a traditional fish tank. Typically designed to be longer than they are tall, bookshelf aquariums offer a wide viewing area and can fit into spaces where larger, more traditional aquariums might not.

These aquariums often feature sleek, modern designs with clean lines and minimalistic aesthetics, making them perfect for display in living rooms, offices, or even as part of your bookshelf setup. They are ideal for freshwater species, small saltwater setups, or even planted tanks, as their compact size allows for easy maintenance while still offering a vibrant aquatic display.

We can customize your bookshelf aquarium to suit your needs, whether you’re looking for a classic, minimalist design or a more elaborate, custom-built option. These aquariums are a perfect combination of form and function—providing the beauty and tranquility of an aquarium while enhancing your interior decor.

Sump Tanks

A sump tank is an essential component of many large and/or advanced aquarium systems. It is a secondary tank typically located beneath the main display aquarium and is used to house filtration equipment, heaters, protein skimmers, and other essential equipment. The sump helps keep the main tank clean by providing additional water volume, which improves filtration and stability.

The sump typically has three main sections: one for mechanical filtration (such as foam or filter socks), one for biological filtration (such as live rock or bio-balls), and one for equipment (like pumps or heaters). This setup helps reduce clutter in the display tank while maintaining optimal water quality.

Sumps also offer greater water volume, which helps stabilize fluctuations in temperature, salinity, and pH, making them especially beneficial for aquariums. These are custom-designed to fit the needs of the system, and their flexibility allows for the addition of refugiums (a small area for growing beneficial microalgae or live plants) or reactors (for chemical filtration).

A sump tank is truly an indispensable tool for advanced hobbyists looking to create a balanced, thriving aquatic environment.

Standard Aquarium Lids

1. Glass Lids:

Glass lids are common for standard aquariums due to their durability, clear appearance, and ease of maintenance. They offer a sleek, unobtrusive look and can often be trimmed to fit specific tank dimensions. Glass lids also provide excellent light transparency, allowing for maximum light penetration into the tank.

2. Hinged Lids:

Many aquarium lids are designed with hinges, making it easier to open and close the lid for feeding, maintenance, and water changes. Hinged lids also allow for easy access to the tank without removing the entire cover.

3. Ventilated Lids:

Some lids are designed with ventilation holes or slats to improve airflow, which is particularly important in tropical or saltwater aquariums that need good air exchange.

4. Sliding Lids:

The lids are typically made from two or more panels of glass that slide over one another, allowing for easy access to the tank. The panels glide along tracks that are usually mounted on the edges of the aquarium, ensuring smooth operation. Depending on the size of the tank, some sliding glass lids may feature a single or multiple sliding panels for a larger opening.

Standard aquarium lids are essential for maintaining a clean, secure, and efficient environment for both your aquatic pets and the aquarium’s ecosystem. Whether you’re looking to minimize evaporation, prevent fish from jumping, or simply keep the tank looking neat, a properly fitting lid is a practical addition to any aquarium setup.
